Before the emergence of the British Raj, India had a very self-sufficient and flourishing economy. During the British Raj India’s debts increased, prices started shooting up, Imports increased, and Inflation kicked in in India. Britishers had left India in disarray and predicament. It was due to the constant efforts of the Indian Government after the period of rule that India is now a ‘Developing Nation.’ In this social stratum of great leaders PM Narendra Modiji has introduced ‘The Viksit Bharath 2047’. Viksit Bharath simply means Developed India. It is a government initiative to achieve the goals of transforming India into a developed entity by 2047 I.e., the 100th year of Independence. PM Modi chaired the meeting of the council of ministers to plan the next 5 years of this program if NDA forms a government in the upcoming April-May 2024 elections. The core element of this program is the determined goal of raking India world’s 3 rd largest economy. The overall concept of this project is to encourage the citizens of India to continuously upskill and adapt to the developing environment; to put it forward in a few words it inculcates lifelong learning in Individuals. One of the main intentions of this program is to turn India into a $30 trillion (about $92,000 per person in the US) developed economy in about 2 decades for a projected 1.65 billion population. Apart from these concepts, the fundamental ideas of this program consist of economic growth,
sustainable development goals, improvement in ease of living and doing business, enhanced infrastructure, and bolstered social welfare initiatives. The basic 4 pillars of this notion are Yuva (Youth), Garib (Poor), Mahila (women) and Kisan (farmers). A Viksit Bharath should have a resilient and strong economy that provides opportunities and a high standard of living for all citizens of India, the economy should be able to compete with upcoming challenges, globalization, and liberalization. In conclusion, India needs to work on various prospects and loopholes which surely will take time. The vast project is time and capital-consuming, but the fruit of arduous work is sweet. The Viksit Bharath is possible to achieve if all citizens of India work together and cooperate with the government. “Today Several top companies in the world are turning to India, we need to move ahead of our mantra of Make India as well as make for the world” a famous quote by Shree Narendra Modiji.
