Digilocker, paytm,UPI,gpay . From big businessmen to small vegetable vendors everyone is using these apps on a very large scale . If we look back in time nobody used or know about these apps . How did this big shift happended? what is digital India? Digital India was launched by the prime minister of India Narendra Modi on 1 july 2015. It provided rural areas with high speed internet nerworks and also improved their digital -literacy . Many digital schems were also introduced under this such as Bharat net , make in India , standup India etc.
There are 9 pillars of digital India

1.Broadband highway
2.Public internet access programme
3.Information for everyone
4.Early harvest programme
5Universal excess to phones
6.IT jobs for electronic jobs
7.ekranti electronic delivery of services
8.E governance reforming government through technology
9.Electronic manufacturing target NET zero import
The government mainly focuses on these pillars

Digital India Advantages With public internet access digital india holds many advantages such as;
a. Increase in electronic transaction- The initiative has led to ascending growth in electronic transaction in government and
business areas .

b.Creation of Digital Villages – Digital India has spurred the establishment of digital villages equipped with essential amenities
such as solar lighting , wifi facility ,etc

c.Utilisation of Internet Data- usage of internet data is increasing day by day . Internet penetration in urban areas has reached 65%.

Through these advantages, Digital India is driving socio-economic

development, promoting digital literacy, and positioning India as a global leader in the digital realm.

Apart from these advantages digital india has also helped many entrepreneurs in acheving there goals. Government also launched many schemes only for entrepreneurs like made in India which helped domestic market to grow and expand more they could even advertise about their product every easily with the help of social media and could make payments of large amount just in a second from their phones . Also by bridging digital divides between urban and rural geographies, and empowering youth, women entrepreneurs, and rural communities, Digital India has birthed a startup economy that responds to on-ground needs with scalable technology solutions.

Initiatives under digital India

  1. Digilocker – It is used to store important documents such as adhar card , birth certificate etc . It helps in removing the risk of theft and is also very secure

2.BHIM(Bharat Interface for Money)- BHIM is a user-friendly app that simplifies payment transactions using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), making digital payments simple, easy, and quick. This initiative aims to promote cashless transactions and financial inclusion across India.

These initiatives help in exemplify the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of citizens, fostering digital literacy, enhancing healthcare services, and promoting financial inclusion and digital payments

The vision of digital india is grand it is a huge step towards building a truly empowered nation . however the goal is still far away since most of the 9 pillars of the digital india are facing

serious challenges in implementation. In fact we should all be ready for the change and be ready to face the challenges in implementing the technology only then we will be able to make this vision a reality
