This policy explains what personal information ThinkStartup (ThinkStartup Learning Private Limited, “we”, “us”) collects when you take part in Youth Ideathon (“YI”) at youthideathon.in, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Most participants are under 18, so we also explain how we handle children’s data.
What we collect
- From the student: full name, class, school name, city, state, email, WhatsApp number, and a password.
- From the parent / guardian: name, phone number, and email.
- Your idea: the idea details you submit to the competition.
- Site usage: a small set of named events only — for example, which registration steps you completed or clicks on our own buttons. We do not record your screen or run behavioural tracking on logged-in students (see Cookies & Analytics).
Why we collect it each purpose is separate
We use your information only for the purpose it was given for. We do not quietly reuse it for something else.
- (a) To run the competition — register you, verify your entry, judge ideas, issue certificates, and contact you about your participation.
- (b) To send competition updates — deadlines, results and event news, by WhatsApp, email or SMS.
- (c) To keep your parent / guardian informed about your participation.
- (d) To tell your parent / guardian about ThinkStartup’s learning products and courses — only if the optional offers box was ticked at registration. You can opt out at any time.
A note on marketing
We send occasional updates and offers about our learning products and courses only to people who have agreed to receive them — a parent / guardian who ticked the offers box, or an adult student who opted in. Students under 18 receive service messages only (confirmations, reminders and results), not marketing. Every marketing message carries a one-tap opt-out.
The consent behind this
You give consent when you register, by ticking the box: “I agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.” That consent is specific to the purposes above and can be withdrawn at any time. For students under 18, we also message the parent / guardian so they can object or withdraw — more in the Terms & Conditions.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with named categories of partners, and only for the purpose each is named for:
- Evaluators / judges who score the ideas.
- Logistics & shipping partners who deliver prizes to winners.
- Messaging providers who send our WhatsApp, email and SMS on our behalf.
- Analytics providers who help us understand site usage (see Cookies & Analytics).
We do not sell your data, and we do not hand it to unnamed “third parties” for their own marketing.
Your rights, and how to use them
- Access a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong.
- Erase your information.
- Withdraw consent — and this is as easy as giving it (one click, or reply STOP to any message).

How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it to run the competition and meet legal duties. We delete or anonymise it within 1 year of the season ending, unless the law requires us to keep something longer.
Children’s data
Youth Ideathon is for students, and many are under 18. We collect a parent / guardian’s contact so we can notify them and so they can object or withdraw at any time. We do not run behavioural advertising, profiling, or tracking directed at children, and we do not send marketing or product offers to students under 18 — any offers go to a consenting parent / guardian.
Security & changes
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information and store passwords securely; no system is ever 100% secure. If we change this policy we’ll post the new version here with an updated effective date.
These Terms govern your use of youthideathon.in and your participation in Youth Ideathon. By registering, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy above.
Who can take part
Youth Ideathon is open to students in classes 8–12 and to UG / PG students. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must be looped in at registration (see Consent below).
Your account
Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and use one account per participant. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
Consent how it really works
- Your consent is specific and limited to the purposes listed in the Privacy Policy. It is not unconditional or open-ended.
- You can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it.
- If you are under 18: registration requires a parent / guardian’s contact details. When you register, we send them a confirmation message; they can object or withdraw at any time (reply STOP, or contact us). That confirmation is our record of consent.
The boxes you tick at registration:
- (required) “I agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.”
- (optional) “My parent may receive updates and occasional offers from ThinkStartup.” — this box, and only this box, turns on marketing to your parent.
Both boxes start un-ticked. We never tick them for you, and taking part never depends on the optional one.
The WhatsApp channel
Competition updates are shared on our WhatsApp channel. At registration you confirm: “I’ve followed the Youth Ideathon channel and I’ll check it for updates.” It’s a channel (broadcast updates), not a group — following it is how you keep up with deadlines and results.
Your idea stays yours
You keep ownership of your idea. By submitting it, you give us a limited licence to display, evaluate and feature your entry for the purpose of running and promoting the competition. You confirm the idea is your own work.
At idea submission: you submit from your logged-in account. We don’t ask for new personal details or a fresh consent tick at submission — the consent you gave at registration already covers your entry. A short one-line reminder that submitting is governed by these Terms is enough.
Fair use
Don’t post anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else’s rights, and don’t game the referral or entry system. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
Taking part is free
Entering Youth Ideathon is free. Anything you buy from the ThinkStartup store (games, courses, bundles) is separate and optional. Buying something is never required to take part or to win.
Disclaimers & limits
The site and competition are provided on an “as is” basis. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Gurgaon, Haryana have jurisdiction. We may update these Terms; the current version always lives on this page.

We use a small set of cookies and analytics to run the site and understand how it’s used.
- On the Youth Ideathon site we measure named key events only — for example, registration steps completed, clicks on our own buttons, and referral-link clicks.
- We do not use autocapture or session recording on logged-in students, and we do not use this data to target ads at students.
- Tools we use: Google Analytics (GA4) and PostHog.
- You can control cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some may affect how parts of the site work.
